So, it says here, most people spend 10 or 11 hours each day,
sitting. It also says that this is bad
for your overall health – and, in particular, your risk if dying. The advice is: get at least 30 minutes of low-intensity
exercise (e.g., walking) every day. It
doesn’t even have to be 30 consecutive minutes – apparently you reap the
benefit even if you get it by going to the refrigerator for a beer, often
enough. That would entail frequent trips
to the bathroom, too, thus multiplying the benefit.
As for me, I am in complete compliance. For one thing, I spend at least 12 hrs/day in
a horizontal position, when you consider my mid-morning and mid-afternoon
naps. And, of course, I have to stumble
around feeding myself and washing things.
And, yes, the bathroom and I are very well acquainted. And I play golf whenever the opportunity
arises. Now to post this thing and stop
sitting. I feel a nap coming on.
